Seattle Children’s Center for Children with Special Needs is inviting parents to attend a series of classes about finding ways to deal with the extra challenges of parenting a child with a health condition or disability. The classes will focus on being less hard on yourself and more accepting as well as finding calm considering the constant stress and worries.  Each class will include some time for teaching and some time for practice, as well as time to connect with other parents.  The classes will be led by a long-time mindfulness teacher, a social worker from Children’s, and a parent of a child with special needs who specializes in caregiver support.

Participants are asked to attend all four classes and a retreat – the classes will be held on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9:15 p.m. – March 15, March 22, March 29, and April 5  in an administrative building located a couple miles north of the hospital at 6901 Sand Point Way NE (http://www.seattlechildrens.org/contact/admin/map/). The retreat will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 2. The Sunday retreat will be held at Seattle Children’s PlayGarden at 1745 24th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98144.

A $40 gift card or stipend will be offered for participating in each of the classes and the weekend retreat.
