Hello, I’d like to introduce Robert Truex, a long time Network dad who has moved to Kittitas County and is establishing a local chapter in Ellensburg. Here is an introduction in his own words:
I’m a single father of 2 amazing kids! My son Gabriel who is 8 is diagnosed with Sensory Disabilities and is on the Autism Spectrum. My daughter Isabella who is 7 is a smarty that has been diagnosed with epilepsy and behavioral disabilities. My children live on the West side of Washington, while I am living in Ellensburg. They are happy kids and they make me proud everyday.
The Fathers Network has shown me that I am not alone here. It has opened my eyes to possibilities that I never thought were in my grasp and it has helped me understand that I cannot dwell on what has happened but to focus on the future and the positive that I can bring in my children’s life! PATIENCE is the main thing I have learned through all of this. Not having the ability to be able to go to every appointment, I have had to learn how to wait to hear back from doctors and how to read the medical notes.
I want to bring a chapter in to the Kittitas County area because I want fathers to know that they are just as important as mothers and that they make a difference in a child’s life. I want to provide support in any way that I can to show dads that they are not alone and that they are always able to find comfort and a friend within the network.
