JOIN US AT 159 S LINCOLN ST
SPOKANE, WA 99202 (THE STEAM PLANT)
5 PM – 7 PM
*We’ll light up the stacks at 6:10 PM*
In 1987, President Ronald Reagan made a public proclamation that the month of March should be recognized as Development Disabilities Awareness Month to “increase public awareness of the needs and potential of Americans with developmental disabilities.” So much has changed since 1987. While we still aim to increase public awareness, our focus has sharpened to the importance of creating and advocating for systems that foster inclusion, independence and choice. By celebrating DD ‘Awareness Month,’ we can provide opportunities to share stories of success, connect with friends and allies, and come together to commit to the work ahead for the change that is still needed.
All are invited to attend this Kick Off event, Friday, March 1st at The Steam Plant.
Please visit www.arc-spokane.org to learn more about how you can become further involved in all awareness activities throughout the month of March.
