Parents from across the state are being sought to join the Essential for Children Thought Leaders and Steering Committee. These parents should have experience with child welfare systems or preventative systems aimed to reduce child welfare. See the detail below:
Dear Community Member:
I am writing to you today as I am delighted with the opportunity to convene a group of parents charged with informing policy development for the Essential for Children (EfC) Thought Leaders and Steering Committee.
EfC is an initiative housed within the Department of Health (DOH). EfC vision is to create safe and stable environments where children can thrive and build nurturing relationships. Pursuing this goal, EfC seeks to increase parent engagement in policy development and support the EfC Thought Leaders and Steering Committee in developing their policy agenda.
A little about myself I am an impacted child welfare parent. My case was closed over ten years ago. During this time, I have spent a significant amount of my career elevating the experiences of those impacted by systems of care.
I am seeking to convene six parents across the state that either has had previous child welfare involvement or have had contact with services designed to prevent and support families to divert system involvement such as child welfare. It is also important to note that we aspire to have diverse experiences, gender, race, and geography as these are essential key perspectives for the composition of the group.
We will convene three meetings, one each month starting in July and concluding in September. Parents will receive a stipend and an opportunity to perform small tasks for an additional stipend.
If informing public policy is of interest to you, could you please email me shrounda.selivanoff@chs-wa.org. And I can schedule a time to answer questions and share more about this exciting opportunity.
I thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Shrounda Selivanoff
